In a recent poll we carried out on twitter 46.7% of tradespeople stated that they use social media for their business and frequently post on it. To make sure you are making the most out of your business social media, we’ve listed some tips below.
Post regularly
Posting frequently really does make a difference on Facebook, so get in the habit of taking photos of your work. We particularly think before and after pictures showcase the amount of work you’ve put into your projects. Also, your work may serve as inspiration for those thinking of making some changes around their home!
Reviews
If a customer is happy with your work, then why not ask them to leave a review on your Facebook page! It will instil trust in your services and an easy way to boost your online reputation.
Make it easy for people to get in contact with you
Make sure your number and email are correct and visible on your social media. Also, when posting pictures of your work include your contact number in the post caption, so it’s easy to hand for people to get in touch with you.

Hashtags
If you want to reach more people organically then make use of hashtags to get your work found by potential customers. This works well for Instagram where people may be searching for specific content, so make it relevant for your field of work; for example, a landscaper may use #landscaping #garden #patio, etc.
Bonus tip – Tag your location in posts as people living in that area are more likely to come across your content and know you carry out work in their area.
Quality Content
Instagram is a very visual platform, so make sure you upload high-quality images. Video also works brilliantly on the platform, why not film a time-lapse of a project to boost engagement. In comparison to Facebook, you don’t have to post as frequently on Instagram, but try to make use of the stories feature, which is great for interacting daily with your followers.

YouTube
People buy from people
Put a face to your business and create some video content for YouTube. It’s the perfect platform to promote your craftsmanship and to help people get to know more about the work you do. Being placed in front of a camera can be daunting but, try and pick up your phone and video yourself (or a volunteered team member!) to talk through your current project. It will not only make your business seem approachable but will help you stand out in comparison to your competitors.
