Band of Builders transforms father-of-four’s home who was left paralysed after a fall.
After a fall in October, Rob a quantity surveyor from Solihull has been left paralysed from the chest down. After undergoing surgery in hospital Rob was transferred to a rehabilitation centre and it was clear that his home would have to undergo extensive adaptations for his safe return.
National construction charity Band of Builders came to his aid and in just nine days 60 tradespeople carried out the renovation work to Rob’s family home.
The work carried out included the creation of a downstairs bedroom with an adjoining wet room fitted with specialist equipment, an accessible kitchen and the outdoor space was adapted with new decking in the garden. The charity has also fitted air conditioning and underfloor heating as Rob’s body will now struggle to regulate its own temperature.
Gavin Crane, Band of Builders Trustee commented: “Blue Circle products’ support on Rob’s Project was a huge help. By providing the Mastercrete Cement and Postcrete their help enabled us to brick up doorways and repair floors in Rob’s home. As well as using Postcrete to set the posts for the decking and pergola we constructed so Rob can enjoy his garden safely. Blue Circle products are a long-standing supporter of BoB and their help forms an invaluable contribution to our projects. We look forward to working together more in the future.”
