Here at Tarmac we have been making the highest quality cements for over 100 years. And we put all of that experience and expertise into each of our Bulk cement products today. We’re proud to say that all of our Bulk Cements are manufactured to the European standard for cement, BS EN 197-1 which means you can be sure that they will perform in your mix design to specification. However, there’s so much more that goes into ensuring we create the best possible products for you, our customers.

Our Quality Promises
From quarry to lorry our products are tested at every stage of the manufacturing process and it’s done to the highest possible standard – our own. Our UKAS accredited National Laboratory (UKAS Reference No - 0751 - Testing-Single.pdf) provides the high level of technical backup and support that helps us maintain our high quality standards. Staffed by an experienced team of scientists and technologists, our ‘Natlab’ carries out physical and chemical tests on cement and products such as mortar and concrete, utilising state-of-the-art physical testing equipment and the latest analytical methods.
As well as our UKAS accredited National Laboratory each of our manufacturing plants has a lab on site, responsible for carrying out the rigorous and comprehensive testing schedules. Staffed by an experienced and technically minded team our plant labs monitor incoming materials constituting the raw mix such as quarried materials, alternative fuels and additions. They perform chemical and mineralogical analysis of in-process materials and clinker and conduct in-depth analysis and testing of the finalised products.
100% commitment to quality
We annually produce around 4 million tonnes of cement, which we test at 8 different stages throughout the production process, examining 17 different parameters including 1, 7 and 28 day strengths, initial set and colour.
