Online guide: How to lay a small area of concrete
Remember to follow safety guidelines and wear appropriate protective gear, including gloves and safety glasses, when working with cement. Additionally, always check and follow the specific instructions provided by the Blue Circle cement manufacturer. Using our guidance is your own responsibility.
Step 1
Prepare the Site
Mark the boundaries of the concrete area and dig out to the required depth.
Step 2
Level and Compact
Ensure the base is level and
compacted. Compact a layer of hardcore for
extra stability if required on soft ground.
Step 3
Install Formwork
Use wooden boards or other
materials to create formwork to the shape and
dimensions required and check levels.
Step 4
Mix the Concrete
Install Blue Circle Extra Rapid Set Cement according to the instructions on the bag. You can also use ready-to-use Blue Circle Quickset Concrete.
Step 5
Leveling and Finishing
Use a trowel and straight
edge to ensure the surface is even.
Clean your tools promptly after finishing to prevent any material from hardening on them.
Step 6
Curing
Cover the concrete with plastic sheeting
to protect from rain or frost and allow to cure
for the recommended time before removing the
formwork and placing any load on it.
