Builder explains why Extra Rapid trumps all

The Staffordshire business owner, who operates Penkridge-based T & D Property Development, swears by the rapid-set product.

Mr Wright’s four-man team has used Blue Circle Extra Rapid Cement thoroughly inside a full-house renovation.

‘The Fast One’ can be found in the mortar for brickwork, as a key ingredient in concrete floors throughout the house and also under the pavers outside the three-storey property.

Mr Wright said he ‘took some convincing’ to use the bagged product but hadn’t looked back.

“We use quite a bit of rapid cement, anywhere where we need to get the job done quickly so we’re not standing around,” he said.

“We use it in the floors, in the brickwork, around the steel and the lintels… It has such a rapid cure time and that’s good for us.

“Yes, on the face of it, it’s a little more expensive to buy, but when you think you’ve otherwise got four blokes standing and waiting for it to set.

“With the (Blue Circle brand) rapid cement, you can get things set in the day, and then you can start building the next day. With conventional mortars, you’ve got to wait a week before you can do anything.”
